Why it matters
Draw a line and place its stops; set the service and get the timetable, the vehicle blocks and the fleet; read what the line reaches without running anything; run the simulation; compare two cases on the same demand; publish a link so a colleague can comment on the map. Most of this is planning work a team does itself — the simulation step is where the model comes in.
Most of what a transit planner does before a model run — drawing, scheduling, checking reach and cost — is where time is lost between the big model iterations. Seeing that step on a map, with the numbers following the sketch, is what makes the workflow believable.
